Speaker: Yana Rusovski Fair Housing Month is the perfect time to move beyond theory and into real-world application. Fair housing complaints can be stressful, complex, and costly, especially when housing providers are unprepared for how the process actually unfolds. This interactive 90-minute Zoom session will walk participants through the life cycle of a fair housing complaint, from initial filing through investigation and conciliation. Following a brief overview of complaint procedures and mediation dynamics, participants will engage in a guided mock conciliation session using Zoom breakout rooms. Attendees will take on roles such as complainant, respondent, mediator, and counsel; gaining firsthand insight into how these conversations unfold, where risk arises, and what decisions matter most. We’ll close with a facilitated debrief focused on key lessons learned, common pitfalls, documentation strategies, and actionable ways to strengthen compliance and reduce organizational risk.
