Conquering Fair Housing for Maintenance Professionals Maintenance professionals play a critical role in ensuring the success of a multi-family housing property. While most maintenance professionals receive training on maintaining the asset, fair housing training is often overlooked for these professionals. As maintenance professionals do not deal with waiting lists, processing applications, or developing tenant selection plans, it is not necessary for these valued team members to understand how to complete these functions in compliance with fair housing law. Maintenance Professionals DO need to understand how fair housing law impacts the essential duties they perform at a property. In this session, tailored explicitly for maintenance professionals, our trainers conduct an overview of the Fair Housing Act before moving on to focus on areas specifically applicable to maintenance professionals. Our trainers will include proactive measures that can be taken when entering apartments, interacting with residents, evaluating work order policies and procedures, and dealing with reasonable modifications. |
