“Sticky Tricky” Issues with Income and Assets
This program will deal with the little monsters of income and assets ...the tricky-sticky situations we often face and wonder how to handle. For example, what are the best ways to calculate irregular income, assets once the tenant starts withdrawing funds and assistance animal expenses? Using case studies and your examples, we'll tackle and conquer these things.
Dealing with Residents Delicately
Got an irate resident or just a stubborn resident?
Having problems communicating? How do you keep your coooooool? This class will be an interactive class to help with those issues and some much needed tips.
Crisis Management
How to deal with a crisis on your property: What to do, who to call, how to handle residents in the midst of the crisis, how to handle the press, are topics that we will deal with in this session.
Celebrating FIFTY YEARS of Fair Housing
This session will deal with ten common mistakes made in Fair Housing. Topics include: Families with children, Screening and Leasing, Marketing, Smoking, Testers and much more. If you have been keeping up with Fair Housing, you will note that Facebook is being sued for FH discrimination in advertising.
About Your Instructor: Michael Alexander
Michael Alexander Executive Director, Affordable Housing Management Association of East Texas Michael has been the Executive Director of AHMA of East Texas for the past nine years. He has been in the housing industry for over 30 years. He was the Project Administrator for The Pinemont Apartments, a Section 8/202 property for the elderly and disabled from 1994-2011. He is the President and Owner of MLA Consulting, specializing in compliance training, communications and teambuilding. A Texan native, Michael attended Eastern Washington State University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music and Master of Arts degree from Houston Graduate School of Theology. He has also attended the leadership program at Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.
