HOTMA Required Updates - Tenant Selection Plan

AHMA Members: $100     Non-Members: $175

On September 29, 2023, HUD published the MFH HOTMA implementation notice, ushering in crucial changes for HUD Multifamily housing providers. These changes mandate that housing providers update their tenant selection plans to align with the new HOTMA rules and discretionary policies by March 31, 2024.

The implementation notice outlines several essential policies that must be developed and integrated into tenant selection plans. To help you navigate this process effectively, we're thrilled to present a 90-minute session led by Amanda Lee Gross.

What Needs to be Updated in Tenant Selection Plans?

The Housing Opportunities Through Modernization Act (HOTMA) includes many updates, and many will affect admissions policies. This includes new rules regarding the handling of income, assets, and what needs to be reported during the application process.

Amanda will expertly guide attendees through these policies during this session, breaking down complex concepts into practical, actionable steps. She will also provide invaluable insights when developing these policies, ensuring that your tenant selection plan complies with the latest regulations and best practices.

Discretionary and Required Changes to Tenant Selection Plans

HUD established a deadline of March 31, 2024, for properties to update their TSPs.  HUD has provided precise guidance on required vs discretionary updates. During this webinar, we will review both standard and discretionary updates and how to know what you have to do and optional updates.

Don't miss this opportunity to stay ahead of the curve and ensure your housing operation is fully prepared for the upcoming HOTMA changes.

Rural Development section 515 housing and rental assistance programs are an important part of rural infrastructure, but training can be hard to get where this housing is found. To help our members operating RD housing, Rocky AHMA is happy to provide a webinar designed to better equip managers of RD housing to provide housing and remain in compliance with program provisions. Household income, asset and deduction calculation rules will be briefly reviewed, but the main focus will be on other major RD housing compliance provisions. RD has some of the most complex wait list provisions of any housing programs. Is your property in compliance with these? Which student rules now apply to RD housing? How do tax credits on a property affect how business is done? These questions and more will be discussed in this webinar.
