Yana Rusovski is an attorney at Spencer Fane LLP where she focuses on the legal needs of clients in the real estate, finance, and government sectors, with particular emphasis on regulatory compliance, preventative counseling, and defense of enforcement actions. She regularly helps clients identify and manage fair housing and fair lending risks and develops tailored strategies to resolve disputes in ways that safeguard business goals, reputations, and relationships. Yana works with both market-rate and affordable housing providers, property owners, developers, nonprofits, management companies, local governments, housing authorities, and financial institutions. She frequently conducts fair housing and fair lending trainings and speaks nationally on regulatory compliance topics.
Throughout her career, Yana has led government investigations, negotiated significant settlements, advised senior leadership, and managed complex, high-stakes matters. Before entering private practice, she served as a Compliance Center Director at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), where she spent more than a decade investigating and resolving fair housing complaints nationwide and negotiating complex settlements with multifamily owners, lenders, and management companies. Yana also teaches Fair Housing Law as an adjunct professor at Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. She is CIPP/US certified and brings a strong understanding of privacy and data protection frameworks to further protect her clients. |
